AWE | 2020
Tectonic IP were invited to attend a dragons den presentation in Warminster in November 2019 for the Army War Fighing Experiment AWE|2020. The format included a 10 min presentation followed with Q&A from seniour officers from the British Army and Industry experts. The purpose of AWE20: Agile C3 is to: “Identify how the Army can exploit developments in technology in the Agile Command, Control and Communication space”.
Analytics Leads to Insight,
Insight leads to Awareness,
Awareness leads to Performance!
Augmented Intelligence Modelling [AIM]
AGILE C3 REQUIRES AGILE TRAINING >> Capability Delivery to Enhance Future Training of Command Operators. The development on effects-based warfare emphasises the role of people and training in achieving the benefits of “network-enabled capabilities”. With specific focus on how distributed and dispersed C3 in the information age can remain effective. The challenge with sense-making is the need to construct SA through spatial-temporal correlation and data (structured/ unstructured) association within an unfolding and uncertain scenario. Sense-making is an integrated approach to problem-solving that requires meta-cognitive awareness including learning through action to support SA.
[AIM] seeks to enhance the Sense-making process through the development of a novel AI driven Visual Analytics (VA) tool for Human-Machine training within a simulated C3 wargame. The technology integrates Critical Thinking within the OODA Loop enabling operators to dynamically construct ontological models representing the current level of understanding of a given situation. Operator behaviour profiles will be recorded providing data for Analysis and evaluation of the level of Situational Awareness gained through the process of construction of the model. Profiles will capture operator competencies and indicate further training requirements. In addition the resulting [AIM] provides a navigational structure for shared SA collaborative planning to enhance a Common Intelligence Picture.
